Australian Gandhian Resource and Information Centre We now have a wide variety of resources available for use by Supporters and Workers of the Gandhian Movement of Australia and for loan by other indivuals, organizations and institutions. * About three hundred publications including - Gandhi's writings, biographies, about all aspects of Gandhian philosophy, modern Indian history, religion, health and historical books published pre-1950, and issues of five journals - the Australian published Nonviolence Today and Social Alternatives; the theoretical journal of the Gandhi Peace Foundation in India, Gandhi Marg; the journal of Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, (the coordinating constructive work institution in India), Sansthakul; journal of Sarva Seva Sangh, (the umbrella Gandhian organization of India), Vigil; and the international magazine, New Internationalist. * VHS video cassette films including - the full-length biographical documentary MAHATMA; Richard Attenborough's film GANDHI; GANDHI IN ENGLAND, about Gandhi's final visit to England in 1931; MANI BHAVAN, about the Gandhian museum in Bombay, and about the Indian freedom struggle. * Cassette tapes including - Gandhi's speeches in English; "Gandhi's Life and Philosophy", the 1983 BBC program of contemporaries recalling Gandhi; a 1989 BBC program with experts discussing Gandhi; about the Indain freedom movement; the "Gandhi" film soundtrack; Gandhi's favourite Indian hymns; and selected speeches of Jawarharal Nehru. * Eighty display size black and white photographs depicting Gandhi's life, supplied by the National Gandhi Museum. * Thirty display size colour photographs of sites in India and elsewhere connected with Gandhi - including Raj Ghat, Birla House, Sevagram Ashram, Mani Bhavan, the National Gandhi Museum, and Kingsley Hall, London. * Numerous other resources including - literature about the Gandhian Movement and institutions in India and elsewhere, a wide variey of other photographs and drawings, slides, two spinning wheels (charkhas), several large-size framed and block mounted paintings and posters of Gandhi, and the poster series, "Gandhi in Cartoons". Our aim is to make these resources as widely, easily and cheaply available as possible around Australia.
