Exploring Nonviolence From a Feminist Perspective Women from the Nonviolence Teachers' Collective are offering workshops for women wishing to learn the principles, group processes and dynamics of nonviolent action. Different aspects of nonviolence are covered by the three suggested workshops below. All the workshops are run by women for women, with a feminist perspective. Women's empowerment workshops These workshops explore traditional roles, socialisation and structures in society that contribute to women's oppression. Through recognising and naming this oppression the workshops aim at encouraging the participants to reclaim their power to choose. Looks at women's issues eg sexual harassment, employment, health, self esteem etc. The subjects can be decided by the group and implications and solutions are sought. Based on the books "Greater Expectations" and "Far, Far Greater Things". Group process workshops (making meetings and groups work) These workshops are designed for groups currently operating as a collective as well as groups or individuals wishing to gain collective process skills. Groups currently operating as a collective can gain more effective facilitation skills and explore and practise consensus decision making. These workshops can challenge the group dynamics within your collective. Introduction to nonviolence theory and practice This workshop is usually one or two days and would include case studies, discussions and activities covering the following: * theories of social change * the history of nonviolent action * aspects of conflict and power * the basic theory of nonviolence * group process and dynamics * campaigning * tools for setting goals and devising strategy * nonviolence and lifestyles * roleplaying The Nonviolence Teachers' Collective continues to hold general weekend introductory nonviolence workshops the 2nd weekend of each month.
