NFC Update The Centre for Nonviolence has got into the Spring spirit of things with a move to a new office - still at Commonground. Thanks to the workers who lugged furniture and worked out how to use our new toys, the photocopier and the fax machine. The move was part of the Day in the Centre that was held to form a small team of workers to work with the Resource Co-ordinators to run the Centre. We worked out five priority areas and agreed on having a Co-ordinator and Centre workers for each area: 1. Finances:Jo, Co-ord. This involves completing monthly budgets and accounts. 2. Networking:Margaret, Co-ord. Rob. This involves maintaining contacts both nationally and internationally, linking people up and learning what people need. 3. Information: Anitra, Co-ord. Jo, Karen, Margaret, Rob. This involves organising all the resources at the Centre- a big job! 4. Network Contacts List: Kay, Co-ord. This is the new, more frendly sounding name for the Database- if you aren't on this, contact the Centre. 5. Office Admin: Margaret, Co-ord. Karen, Kay, Rob, Jo. Jo and Kay have both resigned from being Resource Co-ordinators and Margaret has resumed the job and is still looking for someone to share the position with her. The Network Facilitation Collective has also had a membership change: Kay has resigned. Thanks for all your good efforts Kay. The Collective will invite Bryan Law to be on the Collective. The Collective continues to meet every month to discuss ways of supporting the growth of the Network. We are excited with recent interest in nonviolence from new areas- welcome to Rebecca Spence in Armidale, N.S.W and to Suzanne Eggins in Sydney! Margaret made lots of contacts in Brisbane, North Queensland, Adelaide, Darwin and Alice Springs and she worked with women's, environmental, peace and Aboriginal communities. Glen had a very successful visit to Perth running nonviolence workshops of all sorts and giving support to those working in the west including supporting Patsy Molloy in her fantastic work for the Network. The Collective is looking for opportunities to visit, network and support those working in all states and we are determined that lots of interstaters come to the Nonviolence Gathering in April 1995. It will be strengthening for us all and particularly for those who work in isolation. And to entice you even more - Glen will be facilitating a ten day conflict resolution workshop for ANN members straight after the Gathering. Another highlight from around Australia is the Women's Camp organised by the Anti-Bases Coalition to be held at the Australian Defence Industry Munitions in Benalla in Easter 1995. Internationally, we are pursuing becoming a member of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR) and are doing a magazine swap with them - Reconciliation International with Nonviolence Today. Also internationally, Yeshua Moser and Tuk are talking of holding a nonviolence conference in South East Asia next year. And finally, we are looking into getting automatic transfer payment to make it easier for you all to pledge money to the Centre. We still need your financial support as we are only just managing. Don't forget to ring or write to The Centre or to the Network Facilitation Collective if you want support, information or contacts for your nonviolent antics. It would be great to to hear from you!
