Australian Nonviolence Network Gathering April 22-April 26, 1995 Commonground, Seymour, VIC The 1995 Annual Gathering is drawing near! The Annual Gathering is the peak decision making and planning meeting for the Australian Nonviolence Network. It is a time for making agreements on direction, priorities and principles and for developing and defining a culture of nonviolence. The 1995 Gathering is also going to be a lot of fun.The Gathering is open to active participants (self-defined) in the Australian Nonviolence Network. The Gathering will be held from Friday 21 April to Tuesday 25 April 1995. It was agreed at the 1994 Gathering to again ask meeting participants to commit themselves to be in attendance from 8 pm on Friday until 5 pm on Monday so that planning for the Network can proceed without interruption. Apart from these the Friday and Tuesday are optional social days to allow gathering participants time to get to know each other and any interested person space to attend and get the flavour of the Network. Participants can also arrange directly with Commonground to come early or stay late. For 1995 we will all share the cooking, cleaning and domestic work. The meeting times will be structured to allow for this and for a parallel process of informal discussions and events during meal preparation time. We expect that the 1995 Gathering will once again be an important time for clarifying our future direction. This year we will have less on the agenda with more time for relaxation, fun and sharing stories. There will be a group cost sharing exercise to cover venue and catering costs for the Gathering. Every effort will be made to keep these costs as low as possible. The exercise will ensure that no-one will pay more than they can afford. While travel costs cannot be paid for through the exercise, we will encourage interstate participants to factor them in when deciding their contribution. We especially hope that lots of interstate Network members can make it to the Gathering. It will be a strengthening time for those who work in isolated areas. If we can help raise the money at your end to cover travel costs, please let the Centre for Nonviolence know. The Network Facilitation Collective is pleased to be organising next year's Gathering and looks forward to seeing people from as many different bioregions as possible. We hope the Gathering will give clarity and inspiration for our nonviolence work in 1995. See you there!
